Why single-cell data is noisy

A cell is a movie — we only capture snapshots

cell cycle · four stages
A cell continuously cycles: grow → copy DNA → split chromosomes → divide. scRNA-seq destroys the cell and reads its mRNA at one frozen moment — giving thousands of disconnected snapshots at random cycle positions. That is the core source of noise and heterogeneity.
